The cornerstone of Mumford Hall was laid on November 8, 1922, and since then, it has been the foundation of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Mumford Hall is located on the South Quad and currently houses the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, several classrooms, a tiered lecture hall, Landscape Architecture, and the administration offices for the College of ACES.

Over the years, Mumford Hall has had many isolated renovations, but deferred maintenance and aged mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems require a significant investment. A condition survey was completed in 2013 to create a roadmap for the future of this historic building.

Renovation Goals

The goal of the renovation is to create a centralized location for all students and staff to gather. The design includes improved spaces for student life and a strategic reconfiguration of internal spaces to group existing functions and teams together for more efficiency and convenience. Critically, the renovation will ensure the building is fully accessible with upgraded mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and AV/IT systems.

Support Mumford Hall. Give to One College.

Through the One College campaign, we will breathe new life into Mumford Hall and ensure that it remains the beating heart of the College of ACES. Mumford Hall will be more than a building; it will be a hub for the best student experience possible. The planned renovations include state-of-the-art classrooms, collaborative spaces, and upgraded facilities.
